Maxx-Dri Vest: A 365 All-Weather System for Body Armor Comfort

Developed by police officer Suresh Madhavan and launched 10 years ago as the flagship product of 221B Tactical, Maxx-Dri Vest is a revolutionary product that makes wearing body armor bearable—in all weather conditions.

Made of an ultra-lightweight 3D material, MDV “creates a layer of space” between your body (actually, your base-layer shirt) and your armor that lets heat and perspiration get out, and fresh air to come in. In hot weather you stay cool and dry, reducing odors and rashes. In cold weather you don’t freeze from frozen sweat going in and out of cars and buildings.

A Base Layer for Every Season

Because the base-layer shirt that touches the body is so important, we created the perfect base-layer for each season, i.e., for hot, warm, cool, and very cold climates. These shirts make up the Maxx-Dri Vest All-Weather System. Importantly, all of these shirts breathe to assist MDV in keeping you comfortable, focused and safe in your body armor:

SUMMER (hot, humid weather): Silver Elite Tee Shirt uses a highly breathable micro-mesh material that’s infused with the metal silver (Ag), which has natural anti-bacterial properties to prevent rashes and odors.

FALL/SPRING (cool / warm weather): Silver Elite Long-Sleeve Shirt is made of the same material as the Silver Elite tee but is long sleeve for cooler weather. (See our Silver Elite Collection)

WINTER: (cold, freezing weather): Equinoxx Stage 3 Ultra-Thermal. Combined with MDV, it provides full thermal protection to 15 degrees Fahrenheit (-9.45C), blocks wind, resists water, and is breathable when coming in out of the cold to prevent overheating. Yet it is thin and stretchy, giving you full freedom of movement. We say it “Wears Like a Shirt Yet Protects Like a Coat.”
